Michiel Schreuder, Dept. of Paediatrics, theme Renal disorders was recently awarded a Kolff Senior Postdoc grant of 400,000 EUR by the Dutch Kidney Foundation.
The grant will be used for the RESTERN study - REducing STEroids in Relapsing Nephrotic syndrome. The RESTERN study is a nation-wide placebo-controlled randomized controlled trial in children with relapsing nephrotic syndrome that will test the hypothesis that a 4-week reduction of alternate day steroids after inducing remission is effective and safe, reduces steroid exposure by 35% on average, and is therefore preferable.
